Note:

The Tail Air Smart Remote Controller is tailored for Tail Series cameras. Please pair it with either OBSBOT Tail 2 or Tail Air before upgrading. This guide will use Tail 2 as an example, and the steps for Tail Air are similar.
Before upgrading, ensure the battery level of the remote controller is above 30%.
When upgrading via MicroSD card, please keep the card inserted in the camera and ensure it has enough space for the firmware file.
The update process will take 3-4 minutes. Do not turn off the remote controller or disconnect from the network during the upgrade.
Once the upgrade is complete, reconnect the remote controller to the camera.

Method 1: Auto Upgrade (Recommended)

1.1 Check Version

Confirm that your OBSBOT Center has been updated to the latest version.

1.2 Connect with Camera

Open the OBSBOT Center app on your computer and connect it with Tail 2.

1.3 Enter Pairing Mode

Click "Pair" under "More" > "External Device" > "Remote Controller" in OBSBOT Center. The status light of Tail 2 will start flashing blue, indicating that the camera has entered pairing mode.

1.4 Pair the Remote Controller

Press down the Lock Button on the right of the Tail Air Smart Remote Controller to power it on.

Long-press the Human Tracking and Number Buttons together for 3 seconds to pair the controller with Tail 2. During the pairing process, the status indicator of the controller keeps flashing blue.

Once the pairing is successful, the Number Button on the Tail Air Smart Remote Controller turns green. Each number represents a different camera. The remote controller supports up to 3 camera connections.

1.5 Auto Upgrade

Navigate to "More" > "External Device" > "Firmware Version" to click the "Update" button. Then OBSBOT Center will detect the latest available firmware of the controller and install it automatically.

Method 2: Manual Upgrade (Optional)

2.1 Download Firmware

Download the latest firmware version of the Tail Air Smart Remote Controller from the official website.

2.2 Connection & Pairing

Launch the OBSBOT Center app, connect it with Tail 2. Then pair the remote controller with Tail 2 as mentioned before.

2.3 Manual Upgrade

Navigate to "More" > "External Device" to click "Manual Upgrade" in OBSBOT Center and select the downloaded firmware file to start the upgrade.

Click "More Settings" > "About Device" > "Remote Controller Firmware" > "Update" in Obsbot Start.

If there's a new firmware, a "New Version Available" reminder will be displayed next to the "Update" button. Click the reminder to enter the download page.

Click "Download", and Obsbot Start will download and install the new firmware.
